VinFast Introduces New-Generation VF 8 Electric SUV

Vietnamese EV maker VinFast has officially unveiled the new-generation VF 8, bringing a comprehensive update to its D-segment electric SUV with improvements in design, technology, ride comfort, and software architecture. The refreshed VF 8 marks one of the brand’s most significant product upgrades since its global EV expansion began.

The updated VF 8 adopts VinFast’s new “Tech Fluid” design philosophy, featuring sharper styling, revised lighting elements, redesigned bumpers, and a more aerodynamic overall profile. While the SUV has become slightly smaller than its predecessor, the company says the changes help optimize cabin space and improve urban usability.

Dimensionally, the new VF 8 measures 4,701 mm in length and rides on a 2,840 mm wheelbase. The SUV continues with a five-seat layout and now gets revised suspension tuning with Frequency Selective Dampers (FSD), aimed at delivering a smoother and more stable ride quality across different road conditions.

Inside the cabin, the VF 8 receives a redesigned dashboard layout with a new 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital driver display, dual-zone climate control, and upgraded seating ergonomics. VinFast has also added a new Central Vehicle Computer as part of its Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) architecture, allowing improved software integration and future over-the-air updates.

Power comes from a front-mounted electric motor producing 228 bhp and 330 Nm of torque, paired with a 60.13 kWh battery pack. VinFast claims the new VF 8 can deliver up to 500 km of driving range on the NEDC cycle. The EV also supports fast charging, with the battery capable of charging from 10 to 70 percent in under 30 minutes.

On the safety front, the SUV comes equipped with an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) suite that includes adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, highway assist, and a 360-degree camera system. VinFast says the vehicle has been developed to target a 5-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating.

The new-generation VF 8 will initially go on sale in Vietnam, with pre-orders beginning on May 27, 2026, and deliveries expected to commence by late July. Pricing in Vietnam starts at approximately VND 999 million (around Rs 36.5 lakh before taxes and duties).

The launch comes as VinFast continues expanding its international footprint, including its growing presence in India. The company has already introduced the VF 6 and VF 7 electric SUVs in the Indian market and is steadily building its dealership and service network.
