MG Windsor EV Crosses 75,000 Sales Milestone In Under Two Years

JSW MG Motor India’s Windsor EV continues its dream run, crossing the 75,000-unit cumulative sales milestone in less than two years since its launch.

The MG Windsor EV has achieved yet another major milestone in the Indian electric vehicle market. JSW MG Motor India has announced that cumulative sales of the Windsor EV have surpassed 75,000 units in under two years of its market debut, making it one of the fastest-selling electric passenger vehicles in the country.

Launched in September 2024, the Windsor EV quickly established itself as a volume driver for the brand. Its combination of premium features, spacious cabin, competitive pricing, and the innovative Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) ownership model helped it attract buyers across metro cities as well as emerging Tier-II and Tier-III markets.

A Landmark Achievement

Crossing the 75,000-unit mark in less than 24 months underlines the growing acceptance of electric vehicles in India while reinforcing the Windsor EV’s position as one of MG’s most successful products.

The model enjoyed a stellar 2025, registering 46,735 unit sales, becoming India’s highest-selling electric car during the calendar year. It averaged nearly 4,000 units per month and became the first four-wheeler EV in the country to achieve such sales volumes with a single model.

The Windsor’s consistent performance has also played a pivotal role in expanding JSW MG Motor India’s EV business. Today, electric vehicles contribute more than 75 percent of the company’s monthly sales, reflecting the brand’s aggressive electrification strategy.

What’s Driving The Windsor EV’s Success?

Several factors have contributed to the Windsor EV’s impressive sales momentum:

  • Spacious crossover design with a premium interior.
  • Competitive pricing in the mass-market EV segment.
  • Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) subscription model that significantly lowers the upfront purchase price.
  • Comfortable ride quality aimed at family buyers.
  • Rich equipment list featuring a large touchscreen infotainment system, connected car technology, panoramic glass roof, wireless smartphone connectivity, and advanced safety features.
  • Growing charging infrastructure and increasing consumer confidence in EV ownership.

The introduction of the larger-battery Windsor Pro variant further broadened the model’s appeal by offering extended driving range and additional premium features.

Strengthening MG’s EV Portfolio

The Windsor EV has become the backbone of JSW MG Motor India’s passenger vehicle business. It consistently remains the company’s highest-selling model, outperforming established nameplates such as the Hector, Astor, Comet EV, and ZS EV in monthly dispatches.

Its sustained popularity has also enabled MG to record several monthly sales milestones, with EVs accounting for the majority of the company’s domestic volumes.

Growing Competition Ahead

While the Windsor EV continues to post strong numbers, competition in India’s electric passenger vehicle segment is intensifying. New offerings from Tata Motors, Mahindra, and several emerging manufacturers are expanding customer choices across multiple price points.

Despite the increasing competition, the Windsor continues to remain among the country’s top-selling electric vehicles, supported by regular feature updates, improved battery options, and MG’s expanding EV ecosystem.
