Kia Syros EV Unveiled: 526 km Range, Fast Charging and Pre-Bookings Begin

Kia India has officially unveiled the all-new Kia Syros EV, marking its second mass-market electric vehicle for the Indian market. Positioned in the highly competitive compact electric SUV segment, the Syros EV arrives with an impressive ARAI-certified driving range of up to 526 km, making it one of the longest-range offerings in its class. Alongside the reveal, Kia has also commenced pre-bookings for a token amount of ₹25,000 through its dealerships and official channels.

Two Battery Pack Options

The Kia Syros EV will be offered with two battery pack choices to cater to different customer requirements:

  • 42 kWh battery pack
    • Claimed MIDC range: 443 km
    • Front-mounted electric motor producing around 135 PS and 255 Nm of torque
  • 51.4 kWh Extended Range battery pack
    • Claimed MIDC range: 526 km
    • Electric motor generating 171 PS and 255 Nm of torque

The larger battery pack gives the Syros EV a segment-leading certified range, making it an attractive option for buyers looking to minimize charging stops during long-distance travel.

Fast Charging Capability

Kia has equipped the Syros EV with support for 100 kW DC fast charging, allowing the battery to recharge from 10% to 80% in approximately 39 minutes under ideal conditions. The SUV also supports AC charging for overnight home charging convenience.

The battery pack features Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) chemistry, liquid cooling, and an IP67-rated enclosure for enhanced durability and thermal efficiency.

Visually, the Syros EV retains the boxy silhouette of its ICE counterpart while incorporating several EV-specific styling cues. These include:

  • Redesigned aerodynamic alloy wheels
  • EV-specific badging
  • Closed-off front fascia elements
  • Revised detailing for improved efficiency

The SUV continues to feature its signature vertically stacked LED lighting elements and upright stance that distinguishes the Syros from rivals.

Inside, the Syros EV carries forward the premium interior layout seen on the standard model while adding EV-specific functionality. Key highlights include:

  • Dual digital display setup
  • Connected car technology
  • Wireless smartphone connectivity
  • Ventilated seats
  • Panoramic sunroof (variant dependent)
  • Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality

Kia is also expected to offer a comprehensive suite of ADAS features and connected technologies to strengthen the SUV’s appeal.

Buyback Assurance and Lifetime Battery Warranty

In a move aimed at boosting buyer confidence, Kia has introduced an assured buyback programme for the Syros EV. Additionally, reports indicate that the company is offering a lifetime battery warranty, addressing one of the biggest concerns among prospective EV buyers regarding long-term battery health and ownership costs.
