India’s electric two-wheeler market may have just found its next breakout success story. Bengaluru-based Oben Electric has announced that its newly launched Oben Rorr Evo has crossed an impressive 25,000 bookings within just 15 days of launch, signaling growing consumer confidence in premium electric motorcycles across the country.
The milestone positions the Oben Rorr Evo among the fastest-selling electric motorcycles in India’s rapidly evolving EV landscape. Industry experts believe the strong response reflects a major shift in buyer preferences, especially among urban commuters looking for high-range, performance-focused electric motorcycles at accessible price points.
The motorcycle was launched at an introductory ex-showroom price of ₹99,999 for the first batch of customers, after which prices are expected to rise to around ₹1.25 lakh. The aggressive pricing strategy appears to have played a crucial role in generating early demand.
According to the company, deliveries of the new electric motorcycle are scheduled to begin from June 2026, while the payment portal has already gone live on the official website for customers who want to secure their booking slots.
Performance and Range Aim at Mainstream Riders
One of the biggest highlights of the Oben Rorr Evo is its claimed IDC-certified range of up to 180 km on a single charge. The bike is powered by a 3.4 kWh to 3.5 kWh battery pack paired with a 9 kW electric motor, enabling a 0–40 km/h sprint in just 3 seconds and a top speed of 110 km/h.
The motorcycle also supports fast charging, with the company claiming a 0–80% charge time of approximately 90 minutes. These specifications place the bike in direct competition with several established and emerging electric motorcycle brands in India.
Beyond performance, the bike packs several connected and smart features, including:
- 5-inch TFT instrument cluster
- Smartphone connectivity
- Navigation support
- AI-powered SmartIQ ride optimization
- Geo-fencing
- Fall detection and emergency alerts
- Unified brake assist system
A Bigger Shift in India’s EV Motorcycle Segment
The success of the Oben Rorr Evo highlights a larger trend unfolding in India’s EV market. While electric scooters have dominated EV adoption so far, motorcycles are now emerging as the next major growth category, especially among younger riders seeking a combination of performance, practicality, and low running costs.
Oben Electric’s rapid booking numbers indicate that Indian consumers are increasingly willing to consider electric motorcycles not just as secondary city commuters, but as serious daily-use alternatives to traditional petrol-powered bikes.
The company currently operates more than 150 showrooms and service centers across over 100 cities in 18+ states and plans to expand further with 200 additional showrooms by FY2027.
Founder and CEO Madhumita Agrawal stated that the overwhelming response demonstrates how India’s transition toward electric mobility is now extending meaningfully into the motorcycle category as well.
