MG Majestor Production Commences In India; Launch Expected Soon

JSW MG Motor India has officially commenced production of the upcoming MG Majestor at its Halol manufacturing facility in Gujarat, marking a major milestone ahead of the flagship SUV’s market launch in India. The new full-size SUV is expected to arrive in dealerships in the coming weeks and will sit above the Gloster in the brand’s domestic lineup.

First showcased at the Bharat Mobility Expo earlier this year, the MG Majestor is being positioned as a premium D+ segment SUV aimed squarely at rivals such as the Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq and Jeep Meridian. According to MG, the Majestor will offer one of the largest footprints in its segment with a strong focus on luxury, road presence and off-road capability.

The SUV carries a bold and upright design language featuring a large front grille, vertically stacked LED headlamps, sleek LED DRLs and muscular body cladding. Other highlights include 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, connected LED tail lamps and silver skid plates that further enhance its rugged appearance.

Under the hood, the India-spec MG Majestor is expected to use the same 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine seen on the higher variants of the Gloster. The motor develops around 215 hp and 478.5 Nm of torque and is paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. MG will also offer a four-wheel-drive system with low-range transfer case and multiple terrain modes including Snow, Mud, Sand and Rock.

Inside, the Majestor is set to offer a feature-loaded cabin with dual 12.4-inch screens, premium leatherette upholstery, panoramic sunroof, ventilated and massage front seats, powered seat functions, ambient lighting and a 12-speaker JBL sound system. The SUV will also be available in both six-seat and seven-seat configurations.

On the safety front, MG is expected to equip the Majestor with Level 2 ADAS, six airbags, a 360-degree camera, hill descent control, TPMS and electronic parking brake among several advanced driver assistance systems.

Pre-reservations for the MG Majestor are already underway with a booking amount of Rs 41,000 through the company’s official website. MG has also confirmed exclusive ownership benefits for early customers under its “5-5-5” ownership package that includes warranty and roadside assistance coverage.

The commencement of production strongly indicates that the official price announcement is just around the corner. Industry estimates suggest the MG Majestor could be priced between Rs 40 lakh and Rs 45 lakh (ex-showroom), making it MG’s most premium ICE SUV offering in India to date.
