Toyota Reports Strong February 2026 Sales Growth Driven by Domestic Demand and Export Momentum

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM), the Indian arm of global automotive giant Toyota, has delivered a robust sales performance in February 2026, underscoring sustained demand across key segments and strengthening its market momentum.

According to official dispatch figures, Toyota posted total sales of 34,034 units in February 2026, up 20 per cent year-on-year from 28,414 units in February 2025. This marked increase reflects both solid domestic consumption and a noticeable uptick in export activity for the brand’s models.

Domestic Sales Led by Core Models

On the home front, Toyota’s domestic sales reached 30,737 units, representing a 16 per cent rise compared to the same month last year. The growth was broad-based across the brand’s model lineup, with SUVs and utility vehicles continuing to attract strong customer interest. Toyota’s portfolio in India includes popular offerings such as the Innova HyCross, Fortuner, Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Glanza, among others — vehicles that have helped sustain appeal across urban and semi-urban buyers.

Industry analysts note that Toyota’s sustained appeal in the Indian passenger vehicle market — even in a fiercely competitive landscape — is linked to its reputation for reliability and steady product refreshes. Combined with favorable market conditions and modest economic headwinds, this has enabled Toyota to carve out consistent growth.

Exports Accelerate Sharply

A standout highlight for February was Toyota’s export performance. Overseas shipments surged by 65 per cent, with 3,297 units exported in February 2026 compared to just 2,000 units in February 2025. The sharp rise points to an expanding footprint in export markets and reflects efforts to leverage India’s production base for global demand.

Year-to-Date View: Consistent Momentum

Looking at the calendar year-to-date (January–February 2026) period, Toyota’s cumulative sales reached 67,914 units, translating to an 18 per cent increase over the same period last year (57,785 units). Domestic volumes saw a 17 per cent rise, while exports rose 26 per cent, indicating balanced growth across both channels.

Sabari Manohar, Executive Vice President of Sales, Service & Used Car Business at TKM, highlighted that demand remained steady “across the company’s product portfolio,” noting particularly positive customer feedback for recent variants such as the Urban Cruiser Hyryder tech package.

Broader Market Context

Toyota’s performance comes in the backdrop of healthy overall growth in India’s automobile sector for February 2026, as most major OEMs reported increased wholesales driven by strong retail momentum. Passenger vehicle wholesales industry-wide rose about 10-11 per cent year-on-year, with brands across segments showing positive trends.

Despite fierce competition from domestic rivals and other international players — notably in the utility vehicle segment — Toyota’s double-digit growth reinforces its position as a key player in the Indian automotive landscape.
