2026 Toyota Rumion Gets New Base ‘E’ Variant – Price, Features and Key Details

Toyota has expanded the lineup of its popular compact MPV with the launch of a new base variant for the 2026 Toyota Rumion. Called the E MT, the new entry-level trim brings the starting price of the Rumion down to ₹9.56 lakh (ex-showroom), making the seven-seater more accessible to Indian buyers looking for a practical family vehicle.

With this addition, the Rumion range now comprises four variants – E, S, G and V, giving buyers a wider choice across different price points. The newly introduced E trim sits below the earlier base S variant, which was previously the most affordable option in the lineup.

Price and Variant Positioning

The introduction of the E MT variant lowers the entry price of the Rumion range by nearly ₹95,000 compared to the S MT variant.

VariantPrice (Ex-showroom)
Rumion E MT (New Base)₹9.56 lakh
Rumion S MT₹10.51 lakh

This pricing strategy allows Toyota to position the Rumion more competitively in the entry MPV segment, where it competes with models like the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Kia Carens.

Engine and Transmission

The new Rumion E variant is offered only with the petrol manual configuration.

Powertrain details:

  • Engine: 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine
  • Power output: 102 bhp
  • Torque: 139 Nm
  • Transmission: 5-speed manual gearbox

The Rumion lineup also continues to offer automatic and CNG options in higher trims, ensuring flexibility for buyers depending on their fuel and transmission preferences.

Exterior Highlights

Despite being the entry-level trim, the Rumion E still carries much of the MPV’s design identity.

Key exterior elements include:

  • Halogen projector headlamps
  • LED tail lamps
  • Large chrome-outlined front grille
  • 15-inch steel wheels with wheel covers
  • Conventional fender-mounted turn indicators

However, to maintain the lower price point, Toyota has removed some cosmetic elements available in higher trims, such as body-coloured ORVMs, body-coloured door handles and ORVM-integrated indicators.

Interior and Features

Inside the cabin, the Rumion E features a dual-tone beige and black interior theme with silver accents on the dashboard and door panels. It retains the Rumion’s practical 7-seater layout, making it suitable for family use.

Key features in the base variant include:

  • Front and rear power windows
  • Tilt-adjustable steering wheel
  • Dual-tone interior upholstery
  • Height-adjustable front seat belts
  • Manual air conditioning

However, some convenience features available in higher trims have been removed, including:

  • Touchscreen infotainment system
  • Steering-mounted controls
  • Remote keyless entry
  • Second-row AC vents
  • Front armrest with storage
  • Rear charging ports

These deletions help Toyota keep the price under the ₹10-lakh mark.

Safety Features

Toyota continues to focus on safety across the Rumion lineup. Even the base variant comes equipped with several essential safety features, including:

  • Six airbags
  • ABS with EBD
  • Electronic Stability Program (ESP)
  • Hill Hold Control (HHC)

This safety package ensures that even the entry-level Rumion provides solid protection for passengers.

Colours Available

The new base variant is available in the same colour options as the higher trims:

  • Spunky Blue
  • Rustic Brown
  • Enticing Silver
  • Café White
  • Iconic Grey
